Facebook Text to Image Ratio
If your post contains a lot of text it may limit your posts reach. This is important if you decide you want to boost your post or create an ad. Facebook has rolled out Optimized ads in Marketplace so if you’re planning on targeting here text to image ratio is very important.
Facebook has an Image Text Check Tool that allows you to upload an image. This tool will then determine for you if the text to image ratio is too high.
It will then provide you with Image Text Rating:
OK: Your ad will run normally.
Low: The reach of your ad may be lower.
Medium: Your ad’s reach will be much lower.
High: Your ad may not run.
Let’s test this theory…
The Internet is packed with great free tools to create eye-catching Facebook posts, however, to adhere to the Facebook text to image guideline then they have to be used with caution.

Break Your Own News
We used it in this post to demonstrate the impact of text to image ratio. Using the Image text tool mentioned earlier we could review the impact of reach.
Here are the results:
The results displayed in the first image indicated that the ad reach would be ‘medium’.
As a result, if it were sent to Facebook from the website and then boosted its reach would be very low.
Now let’s modify the text the image ratio… (We will remove some text).
As you can see by removing some of the text on the image the reach changes to ‘low’ which is a much better result.
As this particular post will not be boosted or used for an ad this is good enough for organic reach. However, if you’re hoping to boost your post or create an ad from your post then it’s recommended to minimize the text to reach more people.
This tool can be great for adding that something different, but one must consider the level of reach you hope to achieve.
